Mensagem colegas de Dresden

"Dear Colleagues,

These days in the Dresden Qimonda-fab the final work shifts went over. Today on April 1st, 2009 the insolvency proceedings have been opened. Most of the 2600 colleagues in Dresden and approximately 1200 colleagues in Munich had to give up their jobs at Qimonda and changed to the transfer company which has the aim to delay the unavoidable loss of the jobs by view months only.
The fear of an unknown future and the despair about the loss of our jobs are accompanied by anger. Anger came up at the ignorance of the responsible persons that leave the employees alone. Anger came up at the national and European politics that do not understand the problematic situation of the European semiconductor industries.
With many of us only now the idea is coming up that we did trust too long, that we did accept too long without protest what the company management did offer us. There were cost saving measures, increase of flexibility and increase of work pressure on each of the employees. They promised the crisis in memory semiconductor industry will be over soon. They told us if we all were working diligent things will turn to the good. Most of us did act accordingly, did stay quiet, worked hard and tolerated quiet.
Only now the understanding raises that avoiding resistance, avoiding struggle will not provide improvements.
Only those who are willing to resist and to struggle can gain improvements!
Too late unfortunately we started struggling for our jobs. We started organizing demonstrations and pickets and talked with the employees that we need to build resistance.
We wish you that you will not make the mistakes we did. We hope you will be ready to build resistance, we hope that you will understand that only struggling for the jobs can improve the situation.
We wish you power and endurance for the negotiations that will start next days. We wish you good luck. Don't give up. To win you need to struggle and struggle and struggle even more.

Our best greetings with the expression of our solidarity with you from Dresden send to you by Sabine in the name of the labour union members and many former employees of Qimonda in Dresden.
